Green beans are very popular vegetables of pea family. This kind of bean is also called “yardlong bean”, “snake bean” “French bean” because of its young, tender & juicy edible pods.

The green beans were used for cooking much later than the haricot beans delivered to Europe by Dutch & Spanish seamen still in the XVI century. Italians were the first who guessed to try green bean & began to use “unripe” beans in different dishes. The main producers of green beans are China, Indonesia, Turkey and India. The biggest exporter is Kenya. In EU France & Benelux countries are leading.
