Pineapple NEW

Pineapple ranks second among exported tropical fruits in terms of supply volumes, giving the lead only to bananas. Pineapple fruits are appreciated for their bright taste, high content of vitamin C and potassium, as well as high nutritional value with a low calorie content. In addition, pineapples contain bromelain, a complex of active enzymes that helps the body digest proteins.

The birthplace of pineapples is Brazil, but now pineapples are grown in other tropical countries. According to FruitNews, the largest supplier of pineapples by the end of 2018 is Costa Rica, providing 50% of all world exports, reaching 8 million tons per year. The next most important supplier is the Philippines.

Costa Rica is also the main exporter of fresh pineapples to Russia. According to the portal "Exporters of Russia" in 2018, it accounted for 89.5% of all Russian imports. Besides Costa Rica, pineapples are supplied to Russia from China (6.3%), the Philippines (1.2%), Colombia (0.8%), Thailand (0.8%), Cameroon (0.5%), Mauritius (0.4%), Vietnam (0.13%), the Dominican Republic (0.11%), the Republic of Ghana (0.11%) and from other countries.

The range of the Royal Fresh company includes pineapples from Costa Rica, the Golden Sweet variety. The fruits of this variety are distinguished by golden flesh, sweetness, juiciness and honey aftertaste.

  • "Royal" – a group of varieties with prickly leaves. The fruits are small (up to 1.5 kg), the flesh is dark yellow, fragrant.
  • Abacaxi – large-tufted varieties with light or almost white juicy flesh that has no signs of lignification.
