Grapefruit
The grapefruit got its name due the fruit, growing in bunches such as the grapes. Many scientists consider grapefruit appeared in India as a result of natural crossbreeding of pomelo & orange.
In 2013 grapefruits took 10% of total Russian citrus import according to Federal Customs Service. This fruit is not so popular among Russians as mandarin or orange, but its nutrition value is doubtless.
Main grapefruit exporters to Russia are Turkey, China, RSA & Israel. Their total share amounts 95%. Turkey is the key exporter in volume terms with the share of 31% in total Russian grapefruit export according to Federal Customs Service report for January through July of 2013. Israel takes 10%.
Israel & Turkish products are included in “Royal Fresh” range. Israel grapefruit season goes on since October till May. Turkish fruit are available at the same period.

Varieties:
There are more than twenty varieties, which are divided into two types due to the color of the pulp.
- White grapefruits have the yellowish pulp. These are: Dunkan, White grapefruit, Oroblanco, March.
- Red grapefruits have bright-red pulp. For example: Ruby, Flame.
